Here are some reasons why we think it's wonderful to roof tent in the fall.
1. You are guaranteed to be alone
During the summer, especially in densely populated areas, it can be difficult to find that dreamy roof tent spot out in nature. In the fall, there are far fewer people out and about, so you will be able to choose from many places and enjoy the silence.

🧊 2. Crisp autumn air
The nights are cool, fresh, and often starry. The crisp autumn air makes it extra nice to crawl into your winter sleeping bag and helps you sleep especially well.
🦟 3. Minimal insects
One of the biggest reasons to roof tent in the fall is the fact that the insect nuisance decreases. You avoid mosquitoes, horseflies, and other annoying bugs.

🔥 4. The campfire warms extra nicely
Sitting and warming yourself by a campfire and drinking boiled coffee becomes even cozier when the temperature drops.
⭐️ 6. Starry nights
Autumn offers some of the most starry nights of the year. When the sun has set, you can look up at a clear sky and count the stars. It is a fantastic experience to open the roof hatch on your roof tent and see the stars twinkle.
Good to keep in mind when roof tenting in the fall
The temperature often drops significantly in the evenings, so make sure you have a sleeping bag adapted to the outdoor temperature and plenty of firewood with you to be able to make a good fire!
With an inner tent for your roof tent, you significantly increase the temperature inside the tent while also capturing the condensation that often occurs when it is colder outside. For even more warmth, you can use some form of heat source approved for indoor use in tents, such as Mr Heater or a regular heater fan from Biltema.
Feel free to wear a hat when you sleep.
Rain and humid air are of course common during the fall. Keep in mind that you need to be able to set up the roof tent and dry it when you get home.
